Laura Feniak is a dedicated Nurse Specialized in Wound, Ostomy and Continence (NSWOC) with seven years of clinical experience across a variety of clinical settings. Passionate about advancing wound care and supporting patient healing, Laura is committed to evidence-based practice and empowering fellow nurses to deliver the highest standard of care. Grateful for the opportunity to work in such a meaningful specialty, Laura is energized by seeing positive change and is driven to uplift the nursing community through collaboration, education, and compassionate leadership.

In this insightful session, Laura will explore the College of Nurses of Ontario’s expectations, common pitfalls, and the very real repercussions of documentation errors in today’s healthcare environment.

Jason Lau is a wound care consultant specializing in complex wound, ostomy, and continence management across acute, community, and long-term care settings. With a Master of Science in Community Health from the University of Toronto and multiple advanced certifications, he integrates clinical expertise with education, research, and interprofessional collaboration. Currently a Wound & Ostomy Nurse Specialist at Michael Garron Hospital and an NSWOC in the community, Jason leads best practice initiatives, evaluates advanced wound care products, and mentors healthcare professionals. He is actively involved in national guideline development and is committed to evidence-based, patient-centered care.

Jason's presentation will provide an overview of community and long-term care considerations in wound management, highlighting gaps in current documentation practices and the importance of comprehensive assessment tools. It also reviews regulatory requirements under Ontario’s LTC legislation and outlines best-practice expectations for assessment, documentation, and care planning in these settings.
